Official Name: How to get to La Palma from England?
Description:
A priori it may seem difficult to ge to La Palma, but it´s not so if you know how to search for flights. There are several searchers available. I have used : www.expedia.com, www.tubillete.com and www.skyscanner.net. You can find charter and scheduled flights but it´s difficult to find a direct flight to La Palma. In summer, Thompson flights to La Palma on Mondays, but only from Manchester and Gatwick. Other options are to get to La Palma via Madrid (once a day with IBERIA/Spanair), via Tenerife South, TFS (several options) and via Las Palmas (LPA). I myself prefer via Madrid (scheduled flights only or Easyjet) or via Las Palmas (charter/schedule flights). From Las Palmas, you can get to La Palma with www.islasairways.es or www.binter.es. Sometimes you need to purchase internal flights separately. 1. The most difficult bit you need to know first is that La Palma island is not Las Palmas (capital of Gran Canaria). La Palma´s airport short name is SPC. 2. Try several sites to find your flight. Prices and times vary considerably. 3. If you fly via Tenerife South, you will invariably have to transfer airports as local flights only run from Tenerife North (TFN). It takes about 1-1.5 hrs to transfer airports by taxi (about 80 Euros). Alternatively, you can transfer by regular bus. If you use this option, I strongly recommend to check bus availability at www.titsa.es (buses No. 340-341 from TFS to Santa Cruz & buses No. 107, 108, 102 from Santa Cruz to TFN airport). By bus, it will take you 2 hours (plus waiting times) but fares will cost you less than 10 euros.
